The Trip That Taught Me I Didn’t Need a Big Life to Feel FullI used to think a good life meant more — more square meters, more stuff, more plans locked in months ahead. That changed on a trip I almost didn’t take, three weeks along the Spanish coast in a rented motorhome, with no itinerary beyond “start in Alicante, see what happens.”I’d never driven anything bigger than a hatchback before that trip, so the first decision was practical rather than romantic: what kind of vehicle would actually let me do this without panicking every time I had to park. I ended up looking at camper rental options in Alicante, figuring a smaller, easier-to-handle van made more sense for someone who’d never lived out of a vehicle before. It turned out to be the right call — narrow coastal roads and tight old-town streets are not the place to learn on something the size of a bus. What surprised me wasn’t the driving, though. It was how quickly the inside of that small space became genuinely comfortable. I’d assumed “compact” meant “make do,” but the layout was thought through in a way I hadn’t expected — everything had a place, nothing rattled at speed, and after the first two nights I stopped thinking about the logistics of it entirely and just lived in it. That’s when I actually looked into what made it work so well, and found a rundown of the equipment fitted in the motorhomes I’d rented — solar setups, proper insulation, a kitchen that didn’t feel like an afterthought. It explained a lot about why the trip felt easier than I’d braced for.Somewhere around week two, I met a couple who’d gone the opposite direction — they’d rented a full luxury motorhome for their trip, the kind with a proper shower and a real bed instead of a fold-out. I was a little envious until they admitted they’d barely left the coast because the vehicle was harder to maneuver into the smaller towns I’d been exploring. It made me realize there isn’t really a “better” choice here, just a better fit for what you actually want out of the trip. For anyone who wants that extra comfort and doesn’t mind sticking closer to the bigger roads, this guide to luxury motorhome rental in Alicante shows what that upgrade actually buys you.By the end of the three weeks, the…
